Harkcon, Inc. Begins Support of U.S. Coast Guard SARSAT Division

Fredericksburg, VA, October 2nd, 2025 – Harkcon, Inc. is proud to begin work supporting the U.S. Coast Guard’s (USCG) Search and Rescue Satellite Aided Tracking (SARSAT) Division (CG-SAR-3). Under this contract, our team will provide comprehensive program management and operational support to sustain and advance both the national SARSAT program and the international Cospas-Sarsat Program, which save lives around the world every day.

Harkcon’s support includes coordinating interagency and international meetings, maintaining technical documentation and risk registries, providing program security support, managing outreach and education efforts, and assisting with financial and program planning. We will deliver expert project management to ensure the USCG and its federal partners have the tools, data, and insights to ensure the SARSAT system remains strong, resilient, and ready for what the future brings.

This work comes at a pivotal time as the USCG recently assumed the federal lead of the SARSAT program from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Harkcon’s team will support CG-SAR-3, ensuring continuity of the SARSAT program’s multi-agency collaborative efforts, which also includes coordination with National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the U.S. Air Force (USAF), and the U.S. Space Force (USSF).
