12/29/09: MCLEAN, Va. – Kevin Harkins, President and CEO and Keith Curran, COO, both of Harkcon, Inc. met with executives from Hope for the Warriors™ today and pledged their personal and Harkcon's corporate support to the 501(c)(3) organization. In addition to a $10,000 donation to the non-profit organization, Harkcon will provide professional services to Hope for the Warriors™ on a pro bono basis. "It is exciting to connect with a non-profit organization that is experiencing much of the same growth as we are," said Harkins, "I'm excited to watch Hope for the Warriors™ establish themselves as one of the leading organizations helping our service veterans." Curran added, "We have many skills and capabilities that can help Hope for the Warriors™ move from a grassroots to a solidly rooted organization. I look forward to helping them develop a strategic plan, create a thoughtful staffing plan and build their team of staff and volunteers." Harkcon's Board of Directors was particularly drawn to the "Above and Beyond™" program. The program assists wounded service members as they transition into the next phase of their career by providing them with the professional tools and one-on-one guidance to move "beyond recovery" and into a life of hope and new perspective within the civilian world. The program focuses on the individual needs of the service member, providing guidance on new career directions and/or further education options. Robin Kelleher, President and CEO and Tina Atherall, Executive Vice President of Hope for the Warriors™ were thrilled with the new relationship and Harkon's offer to provide executive coaching and strategic planning guidance. "We just came out of a meeting in which we decided we needed both [executive coaching and strategic planning] and our next meeting was with Harkcon...it was meant to be."
