PDFHarkcon Supports Coast Guard in Reorganization of Reserve Program
4/20/09: MCLEAN, Va. – Harkcon is currently supporting the U.S. Coast Guard in its reorganization efforts of active duty support to the Coast Guard Reserve Program.
Harkcon won a one year contract with two option years beginning in April 2007. In response to marked progress during the year, the Coast Guard opted to continue the contract for both option years, taking it through April 2010.
Under the contract, Harkcon provides administrative support to the Reserve Affairs branch (CG-131) at Coast Guard headquarters in Washington, D.C. The project includes specific support to Reserve modernization efforts.
The Coast Guard is on task to implement a modernized Reserve Force Readiness System throughout the service this year. This updated system will support Reservists in augmentation, administration, training and mobilization. Harkcon's careful guidance and intricate knowledge of Coast Guard organizational structure have aided this project along the way.
Tasking and accomplishments under the Coast Guard contract have included: workforce gap analysis; functional analysis; a systems approach to redesigning the Reserve support system; workforce restructuring; design and maintenance of a plan of action and milestones; creation and updating of functional statements; billet mapping; presentations to senior officers and teams; analysis of FTS billets, Selected Reserve billets, locations and support functions; process mapping; strategic communications support and design; and facilitation of working groups and summits.
