Position: Technical Training Instructor (Contingency Preparedness and Response Management (CPRM) School Instructor)
Description:
- Provide expert skills and knowledge in delivery of instruction to students undergoing classroom instruction in the above discipline.
Instructional expertise includes:
- Practical knowledge of emergency response, planning, preparedness, and exercise principles related to the U.S. Coast Guard, Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency, Department of Defense, Environmental Protection Agency and all supporting federal, state, and local agencies operating under the National Response Framework.
- Practical knowledge of regional and port level committees including: Regional Response Teams, Regional Interagency Steering Committees, Area Maritime Security Committee, Area Committee, Port Readiness Committee, and Harbor Safety Committee.
- Practical knowledge of Coast Guard regulatory authorities: Captain of the Port (COTP), Federal On-Scene Coordinator (FOSC), and Federal Maritime Security Coordinator (FMSC).
- Practical knowledge in the application of Coast Guard and Department of Homeland Security response policy and guidance related to environmental and disaster response planning.
- Ability to prepare and present technical information in a traditional classroom setting.
- Ability to provide instruction and delivery of curriculum in CPRM courses and Incident Command System (ICS) Courses, and various training workshops and seminars (resident and/or exportable).
Required Knowledge & Experience:
- Must possess a minimum of 10 years experience as a Coast Guard or Navy Subject Matter Expert in the Rating specialty required, or an equivalent Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) from another military service (Air Force, Army, Navy or Marine Corps), or equivalent experience and education in the civilian sector. Experience aboard a variety of floating and shore units is preferable.
- A minimum of one year experience as a primary classroom instructor providing training, preferably with a Certified Technical Trainer (CTT) certification or an equivalent Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) code.
- Speak fluent English.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and computer graphics programs.
Physical Requirements
- Office and classroom environment that may include lab work, field trips, site visits, and demonstrations
- Some nights and weekends required
